It seems the only way to get a decent price on these is to buy them in bulk so that’s why I bought these. I was just going to use one or two for trips to the grocery store and they work fine for that as long as you aren’t going far, include a bag of ice or ice pack, and it’s not a freaking 90-100 degrees out. Otherwise they do not keep food cold very long. Also, believe the reviews that mention how fragile these are. They look sturdy but are not. You have to be very careful of any sharp edges on the food you transport, such as the corners of milk cartons, edges of bacon packages or shrink wrapped meat with the sharp edges, especially anything heavy. Bottom line…they are a great concept and easy to use but in my opinion too expensive for how long they will hold up and the careful handling they require.
Since I have five of these I came up with an idea for a trip I was taking. I only needed to transport the food and wanted to save room in the car which usually has a third of the available space taken up by a cooler. They worked great for that as I was able to fit these in here and there instead of the big bulk of the cooler. Just make sure you use enough ice or ice packs and place where they won’t be in direct sun if possible. This won’t work for more than a half day’s drive though, 4-8hrs.
